Parish Finance Committee and Parish Pastoral Council
In accordance with directives of the Second Vatican Council and the code of Canon Law a Parish Finance Committee and a Parish Pastoral Council were set up in St. Paul’s in 2006/7.
The first meeting of the Finance Committee took place on 8th May 2006 with the following members: Fr. Wilson, Anne Connelly, Gerry Curran and Bob Jardine. Angela Brown was later co-opted as Secretary and Gerry Curran was elected as Chairman. The Finance Committee has met at approximately two-monthly intervals and has kept close supervision of the Parish finances. Parish financial statements are made available for perusal by parishioners.
Nominations for the Parish Pastoral Council were sought from the parish community and representatives from the various parish organisations were invited to join. The inaugural meeting was held on 15th February 2007 and has met at approximately two-monthly intervals. Broadly the function of the PPC is to aid the Parish Priest in discerning the needs of the parish, both spiritual and material, and involving the whole parish in response to these needs.
Of neccesity the major concern of the PPC since its inception has been the essential repairs and improvements to the church buildings which required the negotiating of a loan of £175,000.00 and the setting-up of fund-raising ventures to repay the loan in as short a time as possible.
Other events have been organised, aimed more at fostering social spirit than fund-raising and attempts have been made to involve as wide an age range as possible.
The PPC welcomes input from the whole parish community and will give serious consideration to any suggestions received.
The present compositiion of the Parish Pastoral Council is :-
Fr. Wilson – President, Bob Jardine – Chairman, Angela Brown-Secretary. Scott Alcorn, Anne Connelly, Ann Ferguson, Jo Larcombe, Eddie McAvenna, Brian McGinley, Calum Morrison, Bernadette Ridley, Bob Watson, Marion Wood.
