Building Updates

A considerable amount of time was spent at the PPC on Wednesday talking about the work to be done within the church.  The general feeling was that most of the money already spent  was on outside structural repairs and that there was little evidence of improvements within the church.  The PPC has approved the installation of stained glass windows which will be ordered this week.  When they are in place we will be in position to replace the carpet and the flooring throughout the church.  I will be speaking to the electricians about new lighting within the Sanctuary and I should have word this week from Jim Wilson Builders concerning improving the appearance of the wooden panelling at the back of the Sanctuary.  I’m hoping al this will be done during the Autumn.

Green Night

An evening of Irish music and songs will be held in the Cathedral hall on 1st October 2010. Proceeds for the Handicapped Children’s Pilgrimage Trust.  Tickets £10. Contact Paddy on 07921 500278.

St. Francis Xavier’s News

Communions to the Sick

This week I’ll be in Patna.

Renovations in the Hall

Just to keep  you up to date on work around the church and hall.  The septic tank is now installed and up and running and the tidying up of the back of the yard at the hall is almost complete.  Unfortunately two manhole covers have gone missing so please keep well away from those areas.  The dry rot is being tackled in the hall and the appropriate area re-floored.  We are in the process of deciding whether to upgrade the single toilet by the old stage or the double toilet by the front door.

Fire Procedures

Please see item under St. Paul’s.

Green Night

Please see item under St. Paul’s.

Scottish Catholic Observer

 News on the Papal Visit

Mass booklets

Copies of the Mass booklets covering all the services in Scotland and England are available today.  Those who are going to Bellahouston are asked to pick one up and add it to the pilgrim pack which will be arriving soon. Those who are not going to Bellahouston but wish to follow the services on TV may wish to pick up a booklet today.  However those not going to Bellahouston may take the booklet for themselves and for neighbours with a suggestion of £2 donation per booklet.  Booklets will be distributed to all the sick and housebound.  Neighbours and Eucharistic ministers may take a free copy to the sick and housebound.  I will carry spare copies during my sick visits.

The Pilgrim Passport

All families and individuals going to Bellahouston are asked to pick up the double sided A4 leaflet giving practical details of what you can bring and cannot bring to the Papal Mass.  Please read these carefully.  One item missing is that according to the Bishops website you may not use umbrellas.  Any questions please direct back to myself.

Photographic ID

Everyone is asked to bring some sort of photographic identification e.g. passport/driving licence.  Children do not need photographic ID if accompanied by an adult.  No news yet from Papal visit office on what constitutes valid ID.
