RCIA-Rite of Election
This afternoon at 3.00pm in the Cathedral our 4 enquirers will meet with others from across the Diocese in the Mass of the Rite of Election. All are welcome to attend.
250 Club
We discussed the 250 club at the PPC. The response so far has not been great. Members of the PPC will be at the back of the church this weekend and next weekend to try and engage more numbers. This weekend a small leaflet detailing how the 250 club will work will be available for all.
Communions to the Sick
No visits this week.
Parish Summer Fayre
The PPC are quite keen to go ahead with a summer fayre in June. At our last meeting it was suggested that anyone willing to help out or run a stall might come to a meeting after Mass today.
SCIAF Lent Day
On the 4th Sunday of Lent (SCIAF Sunday 14th March) our J & P group is organising quiet reflection after Mass until 3pm. SCIAF materials will be available in the hall and a soup lunch will be made available by the J & P group. There will also be a SCIAF fast day on Friday 12th March. More details later.
Disclosure Scotland
With new readers and Eucharistic Ministers as well as parents going into the children’s liturgy we need to update our list of individuals requiring to be approved by Disclosure Scotland. With that in mind next Sunday 28th February there will be a short signing up session and brief look at the issues led by the Diocesan Child Care Co-ordinator. It is important that every effort is made to be at this session.
All are required to bring 3 forms of identification, at least one of which must be photographic e.g. passport, driving licence, bus pass, birth certificate and utility bill showing current address.

Lenten Family Prayer Group
The family prayer group will run every Sunday during Lent 3.00pm-5.00pm. If your are interested please contact the McKeown’s 266124 or McGinley’s 283929.
Lenten Discussion Groups
Since 4 people have signed up for the discussion group this will take place each Wednesday after Stations of the Cross. The course we are following is called “By his wounds”. Booklets will be available this weekend to pick up.

SCIAF Boxes
The SCIAF boxes are available at the back of the church. Very few were lifted last week so please make an effort after Mass this Sunday to pick up your SCIAF box.
Book corner in Holy Trinity Church Ayr
Each Wednesday from 10-4pm Holy Trinity church (Next to bus station) has a book corner with books, c’ds and tradecraft gifts. See poster and cards in porch.
Vespers
Evening Prayer of the Church and Benediction will be celebrated in the Cathedral today at 6pm.
Pathway to Prayer
This Ecumenical day held in Troon each year invites us to explore our relationship with God. It will be celebrated on Sat March 27th 9.45am-4.30pm in St. Meddan’s and Portland church halls in Troon. See poster for further details.
Short Term Pledge
Why not think about taking the Short Term Pledge for Lent? Leaflets describing the purpose of the pledge in honour of the Sacred Heart are available in the porch.
Fairtrade Open Days
Open day at Nazim and Sheila Merchant’s, 23 Park Circus, Ayr Friday 5th March 2pm-4.30pm and Saturday 6th March 10am-12 Noon. Tickets £2, Coffee/tea/biscuits/home-baking. Tradecraft’s Spring/Summer 2010 range has something for everyone.
Gonzaga Lectures
The annual Gonzaga Lectures held at St. Aloysius College Glasgow start on the 23rd February. The theme this year is “Change, Challenge and the Church”. See poster for further details.
“What keeps us Catholic”
St. Aloysius College is hosting a lecture on “What keeps us Catholic” on Tuesday 20th April at 7.30pm. The Lecturer is Professor Thomas Groome Director of Religious Education and Pastoral Ministry at Boston College. He is a truly world renowned Lecturer.
Priests for Scotland-Contemporary images of the Diocesan Priest
Our Vocations commission has launched a photographic competition to find the contemporary image that best sums up the life of a Diocesan Priest. Prizes of over £500 are available. See leaflets in the porch.
Rite of Election
The Mass for Catechumens and Catechists will take place in the Cathedral at 3pm today. All are welcome.
QMA Fashion Show
QMA are having a fashion show in the school on Wednesday 31st March in aid of Badagry. Tickets cost £5 and include refreshments. Contact QMA on 01292 268379. See poster in porch.
Peace Actions for February
At some time during Lent, think of someone close to you whom you have been unwilling to forgive. Use reflection to think of your own forgiveness. Remember to support Fairtrade Fortnight which begins on February 22nd, and to promote it both in the home and workplace.

Heating in the Church
The three tenders are now with the Insurance Loss Adjustor. The decision will be made next week with a view to an early start.
World Day of Prayer
We are hosting a World Day of Prayer for the Doon Valley on Friday 5th March. The heating may not be installed by that time so the venue may be changed but we will remain as hosts. All are welcome.
Proposed New School
The first plan for the new Patna/St. Xavier’s has now been published. I’ve seen it and I am quite impressed. It will be available for general discussion sometime soon.
